Leading travel and hotel search engine Sprice.com (www.sprice.com) has gone mobile. iPhone users worldwide will now be able to search over 120,000 hotels globally on their iPhones using the power and convenience of the innovative ‘Sprice Hotels’ app.

All it takes is a quick download of Sprice Hotels app, absolutely free, from the online Apple App store. Compatible with all iPhone generations including the latest 3G S version, the Sprice Hotels application allows users to quickly and easily search for hotels in an intelligent manner.

Sprice Hotels generates important data with the search, including information about the hotel such as location map, photos, hotel guest reviews and amenities, as well as real-time offers and discounts on room rates. In addition, users can choose to filter the search results by the hotel’s room rates, user rating and even the distance from whichever landmarks they choose as the start point.

“The launch of our mobile application Sprice Hotels is a natural progression for our travel search engine, as the pool of mobile users around the world continues to expand exponentially. Since Sprice.com was launched in 2007, we have received positive feedback from consumers all over the world and in Asia Pacific. Demand for our online hotel search product has consistently been on the rise with visitorship reaching a record of three million globally,” said Vikas Gulati, Vice President of Sprice.com, Asia Pacific.

“The Sprice Hotels iPhone App empowers travellers to make last-minute booking decisions, even as they are en route to their destinations. Like Sprice.com, the mobile application is also very user-friendly. We are pleased to be working with Apple to extend such a powerful travel search tool to millions of iPhone users worldwide.”

Sprice Hotels serves as a dynamic marketing platform for travel providers. Earlier this year, Apple announced that its global iPhone sales peaked and grew by 245% in 2008¹, and it expects this growth to continue. Over 200 of Sprice.com’s travel partners around the world, including online travel agents and hoteliers, can reach out to tech-savvy consumers on the move directly and more effectively through Sprice Hotels.

An activity that most of the users perform is downloading screensavers and wallpapers of smashing Bollywood stars.
McAfee has conducted a study according to which cyber criminals make websites based on search terms that are most popular. They also offer free download of content that has malicious code attached to it. This code is saved in our system and destructs our stored data gradually.
One of the most searched terms on the internet these days is Katrina Kaif.
Jeff Green, the McAfee vice-president says: “Like sharks smelling blood in the water, hackers will create related websites laden with adware and malware whenever a particular top increases in popularity. Unsuspecting consumers are then tricked into downloading malicious software that leads them to blindly hand over their personal assets to cyber criminals.”

The newly added feature is mainly targeted at users with slow connections and will show a fast preview of recent 10 new messages while inbox is loaded on your PC.
The users won’t be able to read these messages but will just be able to have a quick look as to if they have any new messages or not.
The feature will be more or less useless for the people with high-speed internet as the preview page does not last for more than a few seconds.
Google also launched new logo with product names in a lowercase blue font but colorful Google logo remains the same.

It’s one of the worst kept secrets of the year, but the RC1, or release candidate one has been announced by Microsoft as an updated version of Windows 7 beta.

Windows 7, which isn’t due to launch until January 2010, has been given a thorough testing by millions of people worldwide, since the beta version was available to download during CES in January of this year. Since then, over 250,000 people have been surveyed, 16,000 people have been interviewed, and over 200TB of data has been sent to Microsoft from the millions of testers – 400,000 from the UK.

Specific issues which were addressed by the testers during their beta experiences included performance, boot times and ease of use, all of which Microsoft claims were taken onboard and improved. The RC1 release, available today for developers and on the 5th of May for consumers, will show a few minor tweaks to the performance, with a Microsoft respresentative telling us “it just works better”.

The RC1 version of Windows 7 won’t expire until the 1st of June, 2010 – effectively giving the users over a year’s free Windows 7 experience, which is not far off the final version, due out next January.

In addition to running faster and being more intuitive to users’ needs, it will have multi-touch support, perfect for those who have splurged on a HP TouchSmart PC, believed to be Microsoft’s preferred Windows 7 hardware partner.

Over 10,000 hardware manufacturers with 2.8 million devices in total have been Windows 7-approved, including HP, Logitech, NViDIA and Sony. Xavier Lauwaert, Product Manager for VAIO Product Marketing at Sony, commented “we have been working closely with Microsoft during the development of Windows 7, and we are designing new solutions to take advantage of the latest features and innovations in an effort to provide our customers the best experience possible.”

Microsoft Corp has unveiled its latest web browser Internet Explorer 8 tonight after two beta tests and a soft release.

Internet Explorer 8 provides improved navigation through tabbed browsing, web search right from the toolbar, advanced printing, easy discovery, reading and subscription to RSS feeds, and much more.
IE8 can be freely downloaded in 25 languages from Microsoft’s website, the company said.

Internet Explorer has partnered with a carbon reduction reminder service to help increase awareness around one of Earth’s most precious resources. Browse three endangered forests and plant your own virtual tree while learning how to become a better steward of the environment, the company said.

With the new web browser user would be able to view multiple sites in a single browser window. One can easily switch from one site to another through tabs at the top of the browser frame. At the same time it would be easy to select and navigate through open tabs by displaying thumbnails of them all in a single window.

The company said in a release that the tabs can be grouped and saved into logical categories, so you can open multiple tabs with a single click. A Tab Group can easily be set as the Home Page Group so the entire Tab Group opens every time Internet Explorer is launched.

Not only this, a redesigned, streamlined interface maximizes the area of the screen that displays a webpage, so you see more of what you need, and less of what you don’t.

Internet Explorer 8 automatically scales a webpage for printing, so the entire webpage fits on your printed page. Print options also include adjustable margins, customizable page layouts, removable headers and footers, and an option to print only selected text.

Web searches using your favorite search provider can now be entered into a search box within the toolbar, eliminating the clutter of separate toolbars. You can easily choose a provider from the dropdown list or add more providers.

Microsoft’s market share dropped to about 67 percent last month as compared to over 90 percent three years ago. Microsoft, whose share in the browser market took a beating with the emergence of rivals like Mozilla’s Firefox, Google’s Chrome and Apple’s Safari, is aiming to regain its lost ground with the new browser.

Before this IE, being bundled as the default browser of the Windows Operating system, has helped the company achieve the strong market share it now enjoys.

Google has announced to launch its Street View mapping service in the UK. Now the web and mobile phone users would be able to see 360-degree views of 25 cities from Southampton to Edinburgh, said in the latest reports. The service is said to be quite controversial, the reports added.

Street View has also suffered intense criticism from privacy campaigners since it launched in the US two years ago. An American couple even went as far as to sue Google over invasion of privacy. Though, the couple lost the case.

According to the reports published at Guardian.co.uk, the company has spent almost a year collecting images, with a fleet of specially modified cars crawling along thousands of miles of British roads.
Street View launched in the US in May 2007 and is already available in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, France, Spain and Italy.

Hidden within the Street View imagery in the UK will be well-known children’s story book character ‘Wally’ wearing his trademark blue trousers, red and white striped hat and jumper and walking stick.
In the mean time, the company’s biggest challenge has been the British weather, with the cars’ cameras rendered useless by rain and snow. In the mean time British newspaper The Daily Mail has been particularly vociferous in its attack on Google, branding it a “burglar’s charter”.

London, Edinburgh, Leeds, Bradford, Cambridge, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Oxford, Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby, Bristol, Coventry, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Swansea, York, Newcastle, Dundee, Southampton, Norwich and Scunthorpe will be covered by the street view.

Mozilla, Firefox 3.1 beta 3 is launched now with improvements to the new Private Browsing Mode. Mozilla has also confirmed in a blog post that the Firefox 3.1 name may already be a thing of the past.

Mozilla’s previously mentioned decision to release a fourth beta of the browser — scheduled for April 14 — will also see Firefox 3.1 renamed to Firefox 3.5.
